Site Watch: Victoria Terrace

VICTORIA TERRACE
7 April 2012….This Grade 2 Listed terrace on the Kingsway has now also been added to the Site Watch list.  Please go to it to keep up with unfolding events concerning unacceptable developer actions at 1-2 Victoria Terrace and the failure of John Regan & planning officers at BHCC to raise a Listed Application in 2009.  Full Planning consent was given to this address  but no Listed consent was even asked for!  Indeed the Heritage Statement claimed the setting of no listed building would be affected!  Which was illegal.
Here is a photograph of the glass-covered staircase connecting no. 2 Victoria Terrace to Ida Verner’s purpose built 1902-4 studio building, sited in what was originally the garden of no. 2, and which is now surrounded by the Spa Court parking lot, being removed from its Listed rear curtilege without planning consent.  Close by out of sight is an ancient bit of wall thought to possibly pre-date the 1830 construction of Victoria Terrace and adjacent Medina Terrace.
