8th December 2015……Yesterday, 7th December, the application from Hyde Housing was received by Brighton & Hove City Council. The application is now listed on the Council’s planning register as “Received online but not registered”. It has already been assigned a planning reference number: BH2015/04414.
You cannot and MUST NOT try to object at this stage. You haven’t seen the plans or scrutinised the material for errors evidence/issues.
When the time comes you will have to say why you object using planning policy guidance. As basic, it should be fairly easy to make a case for objecting to the design using the QD section of the Local Plan. Please familiarise yourself with the Local Plan NOW. Choose which of the QD policies you are going to want to cite to back up your objection. The Supplementary Planning Guidance in SPGBH 15 is going to be vitally important in arguing that the 17 storeys is actually higher than their own tall building guidance allows. Please download and print this and read it. In particular pay close attention to clauses 8.8 an 8.12.
Registration could happen as quickly as this week or take a couple of weeks to go live with neighbour consultation letters being sent to a large number of residents. For the existed consented plans only Sackville Gardens and some Kingsway residents were lettered. That will not be acceptable for this plan! Please ask Westbourne Cllrs to ensure a very wide formal lettering is going to be done by BHCC!!!!! The registration must also include the fact that this application is in the Sackville Gardens Conservation Area.
